Babushka feltie

To add a touch of folk-art, here is a guide to make a pretty Russian doll feltie.

The author, Nelly Pailloux released another craft book with a robot theme. It uses crochet hence slightly more skills required.. but the quality and effort of the product shows :)

It looks really adorable too! But if you are SICK of cute felties, then check out Zombie Felties..

So you can make it for a guy who is too macho for the previous felties :D

Anyway this is what you need for the babushka feltie:

Instructions:
You can rearrange the bead pattern on her body. To keep a folk art air, use shiny beads.

Apparently the Babushka tale isn't even of Russian origin. I always confuse this with Matryoshka dolls which are the ones that fit into each other. They have no special history though.

If you don't know the story, it is actually a sad one. The story here was rather long winded. It can be summed up in a few lines..

Babushka was an old lady who lived alone who one day was visited by 3 kings. They were looking for a certain baby, namely Jesus, and asked her to join their quest. But she was too indecisive so they left. In the end she decided to chase after them carrying a basket of goodies to gift to Jesus. But she never really found him and keeps on looking leaving gifts behind on every child she meets.

I wonder if it's a moral story about indecisiveness..
Which reminds me about why people are more inclined to believe lies than be indecisive about what they hear. When we were primates, any information we heard from like another primate were essential to ours and the groups survival. Hence any indecisiveness will cause a delayed reaction and so, the t-rex will eat you >=D And lying was almost non-existent, unlike today :(

To conclude this extremely unfulfilled post, here are some Matryoshka measuring cups.
For the sake of souvenirs, I bought them at expensive tourist prices from the Victorian art gallery... But you can find them practically at any homemaker store.

The measurements were at the bottom which I found annoying. What if you went to scoop some flour then forgot how much that cup held. Then you'd have to pour it out and check -_=

I hope the people in Queensland, New Zealand and Japan are doing ok. Good to see the benevolent side of people in these times :') It got me sidetracked and reading about reincarnation though. VERY INTERESTING. For people who believe in it anyway.

Well uni just started and I feel like drowning in readings and lab work.
I'm starting to hate ethics. Too many readings. The 3rd years are like really gearing up now trying to get into masters. So it was a really bad idea to pick senior subjects now when I'm only in 2nd year=( Everyone made close friends already so when there's group work they already have partners in other tutorials so I'm also having a hard time finding someone for a pair project... Which reminds me about something mean a coworker said. Anyway that will be expanded in the next post.

Enough~! Anywho, doing another post to make up for this short one.

Au revoir! ♡
